State, County, & Community Data & Analysis Training
Take advantage of our robust toolbox! Here is an MG copyrighted template of a training that we provide in different areas across the US. This version is focused on rural counties interested in Food as Medicine, local food systems, healthy food market access (enough quality grocery stores), and healthy charitable food access for those missing meals because they cannot afford them. Examples of training sponsors include state, county, and city government, organizations, foundations, a coalition of organizations, health and health insurance agencies, nonprofits, and others.
Download here a sample training template that we developed for one of our clients that funded the training for county-focused organizations in their state!

Understanding Neighborhood Market Dynamics
Are neighborhood shopping areas in your city, town, or community declining? If you desire improvements, some might say that there is *not* enough buying power to support higher quality stores. That if there was a market for those stores, they would be there already. But that might not be the case or the reason for the decline of quality retail. Like attracts like in retail, and the market sometimes misses opportunities. Learn from a hands-on practitioner and data expert what to do to improve market conditions in terms of market, government, community, and policy action. This includes our work on agglomeration, our MG categories of mainstream and fringe stores, how to create what we call positive loitering, identification of new policy strategies, ways to engage and support business owners and merchants, and much more! Coaching and support is available in-person or virtually and is customized to your needs and geography.

Funder, Foundation, & Program Data & Evaluation Support
This training covers how to use hyper-local data to 1) begin to assess local needs, 2) pinpoint conditions in specific areas that need support, and 3) design corresponding funding strategies to direct and maximize resources.
Are you are still using data by ZIP Code?
Zip Code data is especially problematic. We can explain and illustrate through data generated from your own communities why this is the case. Data by Census tract is also limited in many cases. We can help you move towards more localized data and analysis and illuminate data options that are 1) the most accurate, 2) available on a timely basis to track change, and 3) culturally and geographically appropriate and relevant.
Perhaps you are unsure about where or how to make a difference. Or not sure if your past funding has made a difference. You might have the general sense of potential impact, but have you developed an evidenced-based understanding and consistent tracking system? And if funded programs have not moved the needle in the intended direction, or not moved it enough, why or why not? Or why in some areas but not others?
Many funders struggle with how to evaluate grantees. This is especially true when those grantees evaluate themselves as part of the grant or engaged close partners to conduct the evaluation. Perhaps your foundation and/or grantees need guidance before the launch of the program to set up evaluation measures and methods. Or maybe your foundation wants to partner with other foundations that fund programs within the same geography so that evaluation methods are consistent and that some insights and data can be shared. But where to begin?
If you are already challenged by any of these questions, our insights, support, coaching, and training can help!
